Jury's use of Bible voids death sentence???
Robert Harlan, who raped and killed a waitress in 1994 and paralyzed the woman who tried to save her, will serve life in prison after his death sentence was overturned. The Colorado Supreme Court ruled Monday that a lower court correctly overturned a death sentence because jurors read Bible passages during deliberations. Robert Harlan of Denver, who was convicted of raping and killing a waitress and (almost killying) -- permanently paralyzing the woman who tried to save her in 1994, instead will serve life in prison, the court said in a 3-2 ruling.

Harlan, then a 29-year-old telephone operator, kidnapped and raped Rhonda Lee Maloney, who was on her way home from her job at a Central City casino. Jacquie Creazzo saw Maloney struggling and tried to save her, but she was shot by Harlan and paralyzed from the waist down. Harlan, the son of a Denver police detective, snatched Maloney again. Maloney's battered body was found a week later in Adams County with a bullet hole in her forehead. "The only thing I care about is (Harlan's) not getting out again," Creazzo said after the ruling Monday.

Convicted Murderer/Rapist's Death Sentance Overuled
The Colorado Supreme Court ruled yesterday that the Bible should not be allowed to influence a person's thought process - specifically, the Bible should not be considered by members of a jury.

The convicted murderer and rapist will not get the death penalty, but will get a life sentance instead.

Robert Harlan of Denver, who raped and killed a waitress and permanently paralyzed the woman who tried to save her in 1994, instead will serve life in prison, the court said in a 3-2 ruling.

Bob Grant, who tried the case as Adams County district attorney, said the evidence of Harlan's guilt was so overwhelming that the introduction of a Bible passage shouldn't have mattered.

"If there's a case in the state that deserves the death penalty, it's Robert Harlan," Grant said.

Focus on the Family's Tom Minnery, vice president for government and public policy, said there was nothing wrong in using biblical principles to decide on a death sentence.

"Today's ruling further confirms that the judicial branch of our government is nearly bereft of any moral foundation," Minnery said in a statement. "It is a sad day when the Bible is banned from a jury room."

Michael Farris, who filed a friend-of-the-court brief, said jurors were trying to assuage the worries of one Christian juror who thought that imposing the death penalty would violate his faith. "They were using a Bible to answer his questions," said Farris, who is president of Patrick Henry College, in Purcellville, Va. "Their goal (the jury) was to follow the law of Colorado."

Judge Gives Scott Peterson the Death Sentance
As reported here last December, Scott Peterson was sentanced to the death penalty for the murder of his wife and his unborn child. The jury recommended the death penalty because of the 1st degree and 2nd degree murder charges, and yesterday the judge confirmed the death penalty at the sentancing.

The news story came from AP sources in Redwood City, CA saying Scott Peterson was sentenced to death Wednesday March 16th, 2005 for murdering his pregnant wife, Laci, more than two years ago. Judge Alfred A. Delucchi called the slayings of Laci and her baby boy Conner (fetus) "cruel, uncaring, heartless and callous."

Judge Delucchi said in a statement - The court is satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant, Scott Lee Peterson, is guilty of first-degree murder and second degree.

Several un-resolved irony's are still quite visible in this case... Scott Peterson will be sent to death row at San Quentin State Prison outside San Francisco, the famous prison that overlooks the same bay where Laci Peterson's (Scott's wife) was discarded after Scott murdered her two years earlier right around Christmas time.

It's also quite ironic that the 2nd degree murder charge was upheld for the murder of the Peterson's unborn child, Conner Peterson.
Killing unborn children is still considered legal in most states in the USA - if it is done by a licensed professional doctor (MD).

Police: Pregnant Woman's Attacker Obsessed
Here's a new story that was published on MyWayNews yesterday...

This sounds very similar to another story about a women who killed a pregnant woman and stole the baby -- except in this case, the attacker failed and was instead killed (in self defense) after a struggle.

FORT MITCHELL, Ky. - A woman stabbed to death while possibly trying to steal a pregnant woman's fetus had been carrying an ultrasound picture of someone else's twins and was wearing maternity clothing filled with padding.

Police said 26-year-old Sarah Brady, who was nine months pregnant, acted in self-defense Thursday when she killed Katherine Smith.

"She was mentally disturbed," Fort Mitchell police Sgt. Tom Loos said of Smith. "There is no question about it."
Smith, 22, had been falsely telling neighbors for weeks that she was pregnant, and a search of her apartment after her death revealed a full baby nursery, investigators said.
Brady told police she was attacked when she went into Smith's first-floor apartment to look at the woman's nursery. Police released details of Brady's statement Saturday.

Loos said it appears that Brady struck Smith on the head with an ash tray and then grabbed the knife, stabbing Smith three times, including once in the upper chest.
Loos said that when Brady ran out of the apartment and flagged down a passing motorist for help, Smith removed her maternity underwear stuffed with padding and called 911. Dispatchers kept her on the line until she lost consciousness.

Smith bled to death. Police described Brady's wounds as cuts to her hands.

Boy is Aborted 3 Times and Still Survives
A BABY survived at least three attempts to abort it from the womb and was born alive at 24 weeks old.
This was reported in UK Times Online.

Now two years old and healthy, he is the first long-term abortion survivor to have been born so prematurely. His remarkable entrance into the world is documented in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
....
Dr Paul Clarke, one of the report’s authors and the baby’s doctor at Hope hospital in Salford, Greater Manchester, said: “This mother went through extreme hardship waiting to see if her baby was going to make it. She was told to expect him to die so many times. I am full of admiration for her.”

The attempted abortions had been carried out at the British Pregnancy Advisory Service’s Blackdown clinic in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

Clarke reveals that paediatricians often intervene to save babies who have survived abortions.

Tiniest baby, born weighing less than soda can, goes home
The Associated Press released a story today talking about the worlds tiniest baby again...

A baby born weighing less than a soda can and believed to be the smallest ever to survive went home Tuesday after nearly six months in the hospital. ... Rumaisa Rahman's prognosis "is very good," and she is expected to have normal physical and mental development, said Dr. Jonathan Muraskas.

Madeline Mann, the previous record holder as smallest known surviving premature baby, returned to Loyola Hospital last year for a celebration. Now 15, she was described as a lively honor student, though small for her age, at 4 feet and 7 inches. According to the hospital, more than 1,700 newborns weighing less than 2 pounds have been cared for there in the past 20 years.

Of course, the abortionists kill lots of babies every day -- that are much larger than these little one -- and they say those are not really babies.

Killer's Final Requests: Grapefruit Juice and a Bible
"With slightly graying hair and wire-frame spectacles, he might have been mistaken for a college professor instead of a man who, 24 years before, shot a 23-year-old mother of two in the face with a shotgun and slit the throat of a 19-year-old girl, killing both." [Los Angeles Times Story]

'Roe' Urges Supreme Court to 'Kill' Abortion Laws
The Washington Times has a great article about Roe vs. Wade today...
..."Jane Roe," whose 1973 Supreme Court case struck down state laws against abortion, petitioned the high court yesterday to vacate that decision or order a new trial on the grounds that abortion hurts women. Norma McCorvey (the "Jane Roe") was joined on the steps of the high court yesterday by women who said the public needs to know about the mental and physical damage that their abortions caused them and other women.

"I plead with the court to listen to the witnesses and re-evaluate Roe vs. Wade," McCorvey said. "It was a dreadful day in America when the Supreme Court allowed a woman to kill her own child."

Among the women who spoke yesterday was Alveda C. King, a civil rights activist and niece of the late Martin Luther King. Miss King said that after she had an abortion, "the guilt made me ill." She compared abortion to slavery. "Every aborted baby is like a slave in the womb of his or her mother. The mother decides his or her fate," she said. ... (Rough Woodsman, and Tulip Girl also comment on this comparison of abortion and slavery)

Newsweek Online's interview with Alveda King is reviewed by Annie, and Dawn Eden adds her articulate response....

So "Jane Roe" is standing up to the Supreme Court and telling them to reverse their stupid, deadly decision -- and the coolest thing is that thousands of other women who have had abortions are are now standing up and saying that abortion is wrong --- see the cool video at Stand Up Girl!

Butcher Told Friends She Was to Give Birth on the Same Day She Planned to Kill Pregant Woman and Steal Her Baby
December 20, 2004 -- Baby-snatching suspect Lisa Montgomery used to
compete with her victim at kennel shows and recently told friends she
was due to give birth Dec. 16 — the same day she allegedly murdered the
tragic mom-to-be, sources say.

It appears Montgomery may have been conniving to kill
eight-months-pregnant Bobbie Jo Stinnett for months, using the Internet
to hatch the fatal meeting between them.

Montgomery, 36, of Kansas, is charged with strangling the Missouri woman
and slicing the fetus from her as she lay dying in her home last week.
The baby, a girl, survived.

A spokeswoman at the Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center said the baby
girl — named Victoria Jo — is in good condition, surrounded by family
members including her father, Zeb Stinnett.

"We expect her to make a full recovery," said Carol Wheeler, the
spokeswoman. "She's in good hands. Her father was holding her and
feeding her." [Editors note: Her Heavenly Father was protecting her.] ...

Death Penalty for Killing Fetus -- the only logical judgement.
Several pregnant women have been killed in recent years by attackers who then removed their fetuses, in some cases to pass the children off as their own. In another recent case, a 21-year-old woman was shot to death in Oklahoma in December 2003, allegedly by another woman who pretended the 6-month-old fetus was her child. The fetus died and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

Love your enemies, bless them that curse you
As Dr. Martin Luther King said in a letter dated April 16, 1963

My dear fellow clergymen ...
While confined here in the Birmingham city jail, I came across your recent statement calling my present activities "unwise and untimely."
....
So I have not said to my people: "Get rid of your discontent." Rather, I have tried to say that this normal and healthy discontent can be channeled into the creative outlet of nonviolent direct action. And now this approach is being termed extremist.

But though I was initially disappointed at being categorized as an extremist, as I continued to think about the matter I gradually gained a measure of satisfaction from the label. Was not Jesus an extremist for love: "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you."

8.6 Ounce Baby Survives - A Great Blessing!
A premature infant believed to be the smallest baby ever to survive was called "a great blessing" by her mother.

The baby, named Rumaisa, weighed 8.6 ounces when she was delivered Sept. 19 at Loyola University Medical Center - less than a can of soda. That is 1.3 ounces smaller than the previous record holder, who was born at the same the hospital in 1989, according to hospital spokeswoman Sandra Martinez.

"It's a blessing, it's a great blessing," said the parents.

However, this is a blessing that the God hating abortionists just cannot understand, because the sinful mind is so twisted by rebellion to the Law of God. Do you understand the logic of people who say they are the standard of truth and logic -- rather than God's law (word) being the standard of logic. ??

So you see that the news every day is full of great contradictions in human activity and human understanding. One human will go to extraordinary measures to save a little 8 ounce babies' life, another will kill a mother to steal a child from the womb, and still another will kill a child to "save the mother."

Even so, God tells us to "love your enemies" (the enemies of God), bless and do not curse them.
